Opinion of East Germany

Description: This document presents the East German opinion on the draft regulation of Warsaw Pact (WP) United Armed Forces' (UAF) basic principles in times of war. East German Defense Minister Heinz Hoffmann's remarks were made during the 12th session of the WP's Committee of Defense Ministers. Hoffmann fully supports and endorses the draft. He says that the WP has to catch up with NATO, which has made considerable progress in the field of command-and-control. In particular, the leading role of the Soviet forces is acknowledged by East Germany.
