Description:
This is the summary of a report on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Warsaw Pact (WP). WP Supreme Commander Piotr Lushev delivers the report during the 25th meeting of the WP Committee of Ministers of Defense in East Berlin in 1990. Lushev reviews the history of the WP and its important contribution to maintaining peace in Europe. Nevertheless, due to the radical changes in Eastern Europe, the WP has to change as well. The WP is to take on a more political role. In the absence of any other security alliance in the region, there is no alternative to the WP. Collection: Defense Ministers
