Draft Resolution (Including Romanian Proposals for Modifications)

Description: This is a draft resolution to be adopted at an extraordinary session of the Warsaw Pact Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in East Berlin in 1983. Changes inserted at the request of the Romanian defense minister are highlighted. The document refers to NATO's plans to deploy Pershing II intermediate-range ballistic missiles as well as cruise missiles in Western Europe. Due to this security threat, the CMD must enhance the military capabilities of the United Armed Forces (UAF) by the year 1985 and improve the UAF's command-and-control system.
