Declaration

4 Feb 1960
Description: This declaration of the signatories of the Warsaw Pact, published after the 1960 Political Consultative Committee (PPC) meeting in Moscow, attributes the shift in the balance of power in favor of the Socialist countries to economic growth, unity in matters of foreign policy, and the Soviet Union's achievements in science and technology, most notably, the launching of the first artificial satellite. Further, the states represented at the PCC conference appeal to NATO countries to respond to the unilateral reduction of the Soviet armed forces by reducing the size of their own armed forces.
