||
Description:
This opening statement by NATO Secretary General Manlio Brosio at the first Special Group meeting outlines his views on how the study on Future Tasks of the Alliance should proceed. Pointing to salient questions under each proposed subject, the author emphasizes that the Special Group first has to agree on the topics of the study. In order to ensure the widest possible participation and fast progress, Brosio proposes that sub-groups be tasked with studying each subject. The sub-groups' reports and results are then to be discussed in the Special Group prior to submitting a final report.
