Description: This is a summary of a presentation by the Bulgarian defense ministry on the state and development of the NATO forces on the southwestern flank of the Warsaw Pact (WP). The presentation was given at the ninth session of the WP Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in Sofia in 1976. It offers an assessment of NATO's development in Southern Europe, including all branches of the armed forces, in terms of quantity, quality, and organization. It is assessed that NATO will continue its policy of striving for dominance in this region.
