Reflections on Traveling with the Indian Prime Minister (Jawaharlal Nehru) in the Soviet Union

29 Jul 1955
Description: This document consists of the personal impressions of N.R. Pillai during Jawaharlal Nehru’s 1955 visit to the Soviet Union. After providing an overview of the diversity and nature of the country and people, Pillai reflects on the government, noting the post-Stalin transition taking place. Commenting favorably on Soviet economic growth, including agricultural development, Pillai mentions the agreement on technical and economic assistance signed between the two countries. Pillai concludes with a discussion on peace and stability, observing that India's neutrality can allow the country to play a larger role between the two blocs.
