State and Direction of Research and Development of the WP Members' United Armed Forces (Summary)

1 Dec 1986
Description: This is the summary of a report on the state and development of military research and development in the Warsaw Pact (WP). It was presented during the 19th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Warsaw 1986. It includes a review of research and development planning and execution from 1981 to 1985, and of future developments in this area from 1986 to 1990. A number of problems are addressed, including the slow introduction of new developments and a lack of cooperation between the WP countries. New forms of long-term planning are necessary, the authors conclude.
