This is the transcript of a speech by the General Secretary of the Czechoslovak Communist Party Gustáv Husák at the 1974 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Warsaw. He appreciates Soviet efforts for peace and détente within the Conference for Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) and agrees with the Soviet Union's view that the process should be concluded successfully as soon as possible. He then gives an overview of political relations with West Germany and Western European countries in general.
