Description: This is a summary of the discussions at the 1986 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Budapest. First Secretary of the CPSU Mikhail Gorbachev describes the situation in the Chernobyl region after the nuclear accident, and the participants discuss its implications. The leaders of the Warsaw Pact states' Communist parties analyze international relations and stress the importance of continuing negotiations on disarmament. In the context of socio-economic problems, all participants agree on the strengthening of economic cooperation.
