Report on the Second Session of the Committee of Defense Ministers

Description: This is a report by the East German minister of defense, Heinz Hoffmann, to East German leader Erich Honecker on the discussions and decisions of the second session of the Warsaw Pact (WP) Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in Sofia in 1970. Issues discussed included the condition and further development of the WP's integrated air defense system and the state and cooperation of the WP naval forces. The plans to establish a united naval command for the Baltic and the Black Sea were abandoned due to Romanian objections.
