Description:
In his speech at the 1980 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Warsaw, East German leader Erich Honecker evaluates the work of the Warsaw Pact in its 25 years of history in terms of spreading Socialism and strengthening international peace and security. He also assesses the international political situation, and criticizes Western European countries for their hostilities towards East Germany (namely the deployment of West German troops near the East German border). He further expresses full consent with the proposed global summit on military détente and disarmament in Europe.
