Description:
This is a report to the chairman of East Germany's Council of Ministers, Hans Modrow, about the discussions and results of the 24th meeting of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Budapest in 1989. Hungarian Prime Minister Miklós Németh sketches the outlines of current Hungarian policy, and stresses the virtues of a multi-party system and of staying in the WP. In another meeting, Soviet Minister of Defense Dmitry Iazov accedes to East German demands that Soviet military activity in their country be reduced. Collection: Defense Ministers
