Description:
This communiqué of the Warsaw Pact member states, an outcome of the 1988 meeting of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) in Warsaw, concentrates on the topic of disarmament. The signatory states single out as priorities the conclusion of a treaty on 50 per cent reduction of the strategic offensive arms of the USSR and the US, a comprehensive ban on nuclear and chemical weapons testing, and reductions in the armed forces and conventional armaments in Europe with corresponding reductions in military spending.
