Possible Strutural Reorientation of WP National Armed Forces Towards More Defensive Stance in the next Two to Three Years (Presentation)

17 Dec 1988
Description: This is the transcript of an informal discussion on structural change in the Warsaw Pact's (WP) armed forces after the adoption of a defensive military doctrine for the alliance. The discussion takes place at the 23rd session of the WP Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Sofia in 1988. Soviet Minister of Defense Dmitri Iazov outlines the planned structural changes in the Soviet armed forces and suggests that the other WP consider following suit. The other CMD participants voice their opinions and outline plans pursued by their national governments in this regard.
