Memorandum of Conversation between the First Secretary of PZPR (Władysław Gomułka) and the Soviet Minister of Foreign Affairs (Andrei Gromyko)

7 Dec 1967
Description: In this conversation between Polish officials led by First Secretary Gomułka and visiting Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko the main topics are the next steps of the Eastern Bloc vis-à-vis the Middle East as well as recent developments in the relations with Western Europe and, foremost, Bonn. With respect to the Middle East, Gromyko counts the alleged adoption of the Soviet view by non-aligned countries such as India as a diplomatic success. The Polish side agrees to the idea of meeting of the Warsaw Pact Foreign Ministers on the Arab-Israeli situation but prefers a Soviet initiative.
