About the Author


Wanda Jarząbek

Dr. Wanda Jarząbek is Assistant Professor in the German Studies Department at the Institute for Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. She specializes in Polish political and social history of the 20th century, international relations, particularly during the Cold War period, with a special focus on the German question and Polish foreign policy. She published several books and articles on related topics, i.e. Polska wobec  Konferencji Bezpieczeństwa i Współpracy w Europie. Plany i rzeczywistość , 1966-1975r., (Warszawa, 2008); PRL w politycznych strukturach Układu Warszawskiego w latach 1955 – 1980, (Warszawa 2008); Hope and Reality: Poland and the Conference on Security and Coperation in Europe, 1964 – 1989; Cold War International History Project Working Paper #56 (Washington, DC, May 2008).

She has been a visiting professor at the Maison des sciences de l’homme in Paris, a visiting scholar at the CWIHP (Woodrow Wilson Center, Washington, DC), the School of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC, at the Universität in Eichstätt (Germany), at the Herder Institute in Marburg and at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at UCL.
