About the Author


Andreas Hilger

Andreas Hilger specializes in the history of World War II and the Cold War and is currently working on a book about the Soviet Union’s relations with South Asia since 1941. Hilger, who lectures at Hamburg University and at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, worked extensively in the field of Soviet History and its post-Communist reappraisal. His specific areas of interest include Soviet-German relations, the Soviet State Security Services, the history of relations between the Soviet bloc and the non-aligned states, and the history of German and Soviet prisoners of war during World War II. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cologne (2000).
